A treat you can sink your teeth into: Twilight's Stephenie Meyer at Metrotown Monday

Local Twihards are getting a chance to take a bite out of the creator of sparkly vampires.

Stephenie Meyer, author of the bestselling Twilight saga, will be in town for a book signing in Burnaby  — her only Canadian stop — at Chapters Metrotown Monday.

Meyer, 39, has been making the rounds promoting the big-screen adaptation of her first adult novel The Host, a science fiction tale starring Raoirse Ronan, William Hurt, Diane Kruger, Max Irons, and Jake Abel. The film, directed by Andrew Niccol (Gattaca, In Time), hits theatres March 29.

Fans can catch Meyer from 5:30 to 9 p.m. The event will feature music by DJ Mary Mac, on-site contests and giveaways.

Three of the four films in the hit teen vampire romance series (New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn) were shot in and around Vancouver and the Lower Mainland, including Stanley Park and Steveston.

The teen bloodsucker franchise also catapulted celebrity trio Kristin Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner to worldwide stardom.

The city of Forks in Washington state started celebrating Meyer in 2007. The author, whose novels have sold more than 100 million copies worldwide, have made the remote town a popular tourist destination.

Stephenie Meyer Day is celebrated every Sept. 13, which is the character Bella’s birthday.
