Thousands of people stroll through downtown New Westminster at last year’s Columbia StrEAT food truck festival.

“Bring backup.”

And an empty stomach.

And lots of Tupperware.

The 75,000 people expected to drop in on this year’s Columbia StrEAT food truck festival in New West on Saturday will need all three, and more, to conquer the event, according to Downtown New Westminster Business Improvement events co-ordinator Maddison McKitrick.

“You definitely want to plan ahead and figure out where the trucks you want to hit up will be parked,” McKitrick said. “I have my favourites, Aussie Pie Guy and Community Pizzeria, but I’m going to try to visit trucks I’ve never tried before. There are so many choices, I’ve never been disappointed.”

The largest festival of its kind will feature more than 70 food trucks, 30 food outlets, beer gardens and live entertainment along eight blocks of downtown New Westminster’s Columbia Street.

If the seemingly endless culinary fare from all over the world is too daunting, you can also duck into the Royal City Farmers’ Market for some shopping or catch some live music.

Now in its third year, Columbia StrEAT is billed as the largest one-day food truck festival in Canada.

The festival runs Saturday from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.
