Homicide police are investigating a death in Coquitlam on Tuesday.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team says that, shortly before 5:30 p.m., Coquitlam RCMP officers were called to the 1900-block of Brunette Avenue following a report of a fight between two men.

The fight broke up but, an hour later, police received a second 911 call that one of the men had gone into medical distress.

Paramedics arrived but despite their attempts to revive the 58-year-old man, he was pronounced dead, police said.

The second man, age 31, was arrested, but has since been released.

IHIT has taken over the investigation.

Police said the evidence so far does not support charges. An autopsy will be conducted to confirm cause of death and if foul play was a contributing factor.

Police are not releasing the victim’s name until his family has been notified.
