Local relishes chance to dance with Britney

A Winnipeg high school student is rehearsing his moves for Saturday's Britney Spears concert in Toronto after winning a nationwide contest.

John Seymour, 18, was still sleeping yesterday morning when he got a phone call from HMV informing him he had won their “Dance Onstage with Britney” contest.

“I didn't think it was real,” said Seymour. “You never see people win the contest, you always hear about people winning. I thought it was pretty cool.”

The longtime fan attended Britney Spears' Winnipeg show in July. He also said he owns all the pop star's albums and a few of her DVD concert specials. Seymour used his HMV card, which was stocked with thousands of points accumulated over the years, to enter the Canada-wide contest about 225 times.

“I've done plays, but I'm not a dancer. I'm a little nervous about that, but it would be cool to be on stage with Britney Spears.”

The part-time actor is used to the MTC Warehouse stage and playing extras onscreen, but Seymour admits he's going to do a few run-throughs before showtime this Saturday.

Seymour leaves for Toronto this Friday. He gets free airfare, accommodation and tickets to the Femme Fatale concert at Air Canada Centre.
