Up the Creek with a pair of boots and a garbage bag: Seems like the litterbugs were out full force this winter wreaking havoc on some of our Creeks! The good news is that you can do your part to help. This Saturday is the ‘Creek Cleanup’ at Omands, Truro and Sturgeon Creeks. Gather your friends; get your rubber boots, gloves and hip waders ready, and spend the afternoon revitalizing Winnipeg for everyone to enjoy this summer. There are three meet up points, find the groups on Facebook for more info.
A little Spring Cleaning this weekend: Keeping with the topic of spring cleaning, MLA for the Minto area, Andrew Swan, is hosting the Minto Spring Cleanup! If you want to help clean up the community, but the kids are a little too young to wander around a creek, consider lending a hand in the West End. All you need to do is show up at the Sargent Park Community Centre, 1111 Wall St, at 12 p.m. and you will be provided with garbage bags and instructions! There will be snacks and drinks for all volunteers
You Can Go Your Own Way with Fleetwood Mac: Fleetwood Mac are live this Sunday, bringing their 2013 World Tour to the MTS Centre! This may already be ‘Second Hand News’ to you, but if you missed the concert announcement, this is your reminder not to miss this show. The iconic band has been around since the late ‘60s (taking a two-year hiatus in the ‘90s), so you know they’ll got a lot of experience and material to put on a rocking show! Things kick off at 8 p.m. and tickets range from $61.25 to $198.50 at Ticketmaster.
Jazz up Mother’s Day this year: Get into the swing of things at the Winnipeg Art Gallery this Sunday. Since it’s Mother’s Day, treat mom to a jazzy experience by taking her to the King of Swing concert with clarinetist Ken Peplowski. You guys will be tapping your toes along with the tunes from the 30-year clarinet veteran, which mirror the tone and virtuosity of jazz legend, Benny Goodman. There are two show times, and tickets range in prices. To find out more, check out http://winnipegjazzorchestra.com/
