Winnipeg man charged in stabbing on Main Street

A man is behind bars after a fight on Main Street Saturday night left another man in hospital with stab wounds.

A 31-year-old man was taken to hospital in critical condition after police found him stabbed in the upper body in the 700 block of Main Street around 9 p.m.

The victim’s condition has been since upgraded to stable.

Police were able to track a suspect down at a residence in the 300 block of Boyd Avenue, and members of the Tactical Support Team made an arrest about an hour later.

Waylon Joseph Scott, 32, of Winnipeg has been charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and assaulting a peace officer.

Scott has been detained at the Provincial Remand Centre.
