Love Local MB festival to showcase the best in Manitoba food

More than 20 Manitoba food producers and vendors will come together this weekend to show off our province’s best in food and drink.

The first annual Love Local MB will take place this Saturday, April 26, at the Winnipeg Winter Club. Visitors can come and go from 5 to 9 p.m.

“It’s really showcasing what you can get locally,” said Peter Fehr, owner of Gourmet Inspirations, who is co-organizing the event with Bessie’s best. “You don’t have to buy imported stuff all the time. We have amazing local products right here in our city, in our province.”

Vendors will be selling and giving out samples of everything from raw baked goods to savoury meats, cheeses and condiments. There will also be beer from Half Pints and Farmery, wine from Manitoba winery Rigby Orchard and other Canadian wineries.

Fehr said it’s a good idea to have events like these because people often don’t think about buying local.

“We just often go to the supermarket and buy whatever’s on the shelves. So I think it’s really important to bring awareness to what we have locally.”

Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door and your ticket includes a glass of wine.

Tickets can be purchased at The Winnipeg Winter Club, Café Ce Soir, or online at lovelocalmb.eventbrite.ca.
