Our content director, Alek Korab, usually wants no parts of fashion talk. When office chatter turns to subjects of style, he tunes it out, unless it involves futbol jerseys (Alek is a huge soccer fan.) But somehow, he found himself commissioning a freelance story on Japan's obsession with meggings (that's man leggings or tights).

The menswear phenomenon has been threatening to become a full-on trend for a while now and seems to have reached its tipping point in Tokyo. In the Japanese hipsters' defence, they usually wear their meggings underneath shorts or denim cut-offs. (That looks a lot cooler than, say, Russell Brand, whose photo was at the top of the results list when I did a Google Image search for "meggings.") No matter, our little in-house peanut gallery/panel of United Nations, gave it the universal thumbs down.

Alek from Poland says: "It's outrageous! If God wanted men to wear leggings, he would give them better legs."
Romina from France says: "It's bad enough men are wearing skinny jeans these days."

Jessica from Sweden says: "Blah."

Alek from Poland says: "While we're on the subject of man-bashing, can we talk about men who look like this?"

Paul from England says: "Does this meggings thing mean I have to change my plan for dressed down Friday?"

Mia from the Czech Republic says: "Leggings are just one step away from tights. They look best in the dance studio."

Maggie from America says: "See below..."
