The UFC is coming to Vancouver June 12, according to a top mixed martial arts news website.

MMAjunkie.com is reporting that a “well-placed UFC source” confirmed Vancouver as the host of UFC 115 at GM Place.

A 6-3 vote by Vancouver city councillors on Dec. 17 paved the way for the event. At that time, councillors agreed to sanction mixed martial arts contests on a two-year pilot basis.

After the vote, UFC president Dana White tweeted, “Another one down!” in reference to the growing acceptance of the sport in jurisdictions across North America.

In Canada, the UFC has hosted events in Montreal only. The third card in that city is UFC 113, which is planned for the Bell Centre May 1.

The main event in Montreal is expected to be a rematch between UFC lightweight champion Lyoto (The Dragon) Machida and Mauricio (Shogun) Rua.

A card at GM Place is expected to generate up to $4.7 million in spinoff economic benefits.

There’s no word yet on what matchups can be expected in Vancouver.
