The National Capital Commission is getting $35 million to spruce up 14 of its properties around Ottawa.

The federal Infrastructure Stimulus Fund is providing $3.75 million for new facilities along the historic Rideau Canal Skateway, $4.05 million for repairs to the Portage Bridge connecting Ottawa and Gatineau, and $6.3 million to rehabilitate the masonry and concrete walls over a length of 550 metres of the Rockcliffe Parkway North retaining wall.

A four-kilometre stretch of four-lane Aviation Parkway will be fully rehabilitated at a cost of $6 million.

The concession, bus shelter and bandstand buildings, along with sections of the pathway in Vincent Massey Park will get a $3-million facelift, while at Hog's Back Park, the washroom and concession buildings will receive universal accessibility upgrades estimated at $3 million.
