The city’s top doc credited with leading the city through the recent H1N1 pandemic has received the Ottawa Physician of the Year Award.
The Academy of Medicine of Ottawa awarded the honour to Ottawa’s Medical Officer of Health Dr. Isra Levy in recognition of his work as a clinician, advocate and for his service to the community.
The award speaks to Levy’s professionalism, leadership and dedication, said Mayor Larry O’Brien.
“Ottawa Public Health, under the leadership of Dr. Isra Levy, protects and promotes the health of 900,000 people,” said Academy of Medicine of Ottawa president Dr. Merrilee Fullerton.
In its third year, the award was developed to recognize local physicians for their contributions to the community.
