A 28-year-old man is in a coma today after he and others were beaten and Tasered by a group of about 10 men in a Gatineau hotel room early yesterday morning.

Six other people were injured, two seriously, after a group of men entered a room at the Best Western Hotel at 125 Laurier St. at about 4 a.m., where they allegedly Tasered, kicked and beat the victims with broken bottles and their fists, said Gatineau Police Lieut. Claude Vaillancourt.

There were seven victims in the incident. Of the seven, one is in a coma and two others were taken to hospital, treated and released.

All seven victims were affiliated with an ultimate fighting tournament that was held in Hull on Saturday night, said Vaillancourt.

By the time police arrived, the suspects had fled the scene. The victims were not robbed.
“That is not the cause,” said Vaillancourt. “Something happened the night before.”

Several of the victims were professional mixed martial arts fighters, said Vaillancourt. Their names are not being released.

Police have no suspects at the moment. The investigation continues.
