Sidney Crosby hoists the Stanley Cup Friday night.
Cole Harbour's Sidney Crosby has moved a step closer to playing at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.
The Pittsburgh Penguins star earned an invite to Hockey Canada's summer orientation camp Thursday, one of 46 players vying to wear the Maple Leaf in February.
Crosby solidified his spot as a potential key player for Canada at the Olympics when he helped the Penguins win the Stanley Cup last month, leading the league in goals with 15.
He made a big impression on Canadian head coach Mike Babcock, whose Detroit Red Wings came out on the wrong side of a memorable seven-game Stanley Cup Final.
Babcock said the 21-year-old centre was "good defensively, worked hard and led by example for his teammates."
"To me, that's a huge part of it, right there," Babcock said. "I thought in particular, Crosby's battle with (Red Wings star Henrik) Zetterberg was very good ... There are a number of players (coming to the camp) who have gone through the playoff wars and really stepped up and led their teams."
The camp runs Aug. 24 to 27 in Calgary.
