The Halifax Mooseheads made it a perfect Quebec road trip on Sunday.
The Mooseheads earned a gutsy 4-3 come-from-behind victory over the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada in front of 3,250 fans at the Centre d'excellence Sports Rousseau.
“We really pushed,” said Mooseheads coach Dominque Ducharme. “We got a really important two points on the road.”
After the Armada scored three unanswered goals to take a 3-2 lead in the third period, Jonathan Drouin scored his 22nd goal of the season to tie the contest.
Twenty nine seconds later MacKenzie Weegar scored the game winner at the 17:48 mark of the third.
Ducharme said he’s happy about going 3-0 in Quebec - blasting the Quebec Remparts 11-2 on Friday and a 5-0 victory over Sherbrooke Phoenix on Saturday - but added there’s room to improve.
“We have to be working harder, be more physical, win more battles, that’s the process," he said. "We have 23 games to get ready for the playoffs.”
The Armada’s Xavier Ouellet broke a 2-2 tie with a power play marker at 7:27 in the third period.
The Mooseheads carried a 2-0 lead into the third. But Marc-Olivier Roy and Samuel Carrier scored 45 seconds apart to draw Armada even before the four-minute mark.
Mooseheads forward Nathan MacKinnon collected his 26th goal of the season to break a scoreless contest at 10:35 in the second period. Just over five minutes later Brent Andrews tallied his ninth of the year.
With the victory, Halifax extends its winning streak to six.
Zach Fucale made 20 saves to earn his Canadian Hockey League-leading 30th win of the season.
The Mooseheads return to action Friday when they host the Phoenix at 7 p.m.
