QMJHL: Fortin, Waked lead Huskeis to 7-6 shootout win over Screaming Eagles

SYDNEY, N.S. — Alexandre Fortin and Antoine Waked both scored in the shootout as the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies clipped the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles 7-6 on Wednesday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

Fortin and Waked also scored in the first period for Rouyn-Noranda (18-6-3), while Peter Abbandonato added a pair of goals. Jean-Christophe Beaudin and Tyler Hinam chipped in as well. Samuel Harvey made 26 saves and turned away both skaters he faced in the shootout to earn the win.

Drake Batherson and Massimo Carozza had power-play goals 31 seconds apart late in the third period to force overtime for Cape Breton (13-12-3). Pierre-Luc Dubois scored twice on the power play, while Phelix Martineau also scored with the man advantage. Giovanni Fiore scored at even strength in the first.

Kyle Jessiman stopped 21 shots for the Screaming Eagles, but could only block one of the three skaters he faced in the shootout.

The Huskies were 1 for 7 on the power play and Cape Breton was 5 for 8 with the man advantage.



BATHURST, N.B. — Kameron Kielly struck twice to lead Charlottetown past the Titan.

Mitchell Balmas had the eventual winner for the Islanders (16-10-1) late in the first period. Gregor MacLeod and Filip Chlapik also scored.

Jeffrey Truchon-Viel had a power-play goal for Acadie-Bathurst (12-14-2).



BOISBRIAND, Que. —  Thomas Ethier scored twice and added two assists in Blainville-Boisbriand's rout of Sherbrooke.

Shaun Miller had a power-play goal for the Armada (18-6-3), while Charlie Roy, Brock Perry, Morgan Adams-Moisan, Guillaume Beaudoin and Alexandre Alain rounded out the attack.

Hugo Roy had a pair of goals for the Phoenix (10-14-3) and Yaroslav Alexeyev added one of his own.



VICTORIAVILLE, Que. — Nicolas Roy and Dmitry Zhukenov both scored in the shootout as Chicoutimi edged the Tigres.

Vincent Tremblay-Lapalme and Brendan Hamelin scored in regulation time for the Sagueneens (15-9-1).

Samuel Beck and Ivan Kosorenkov supplied the offence for Victoriaville (13-11-4).



QUEBEC CITY — Olivier Garneau's empty-net goal was the winner as the Remparts held on for a win over Halifax.

Philipp Kurashev scored in the first for Quebec (15-10-3) with Garneau's late empty-netter seemingly adding some insurance.

But Arnaud Durandeau scored with 14 seconds left in the third for the Mooseheads (14-12-1) to make Garneau's the decisive goal.



BAIE-COMEAU, Que. — Zack MacEwen and Yakov Trenin had shootout goals as Gatineau slipped past the Drakkar.

Trenin also scored in regulation time for the Olympiques (11-13-3). Nicolas Meloche and Alex Dostie also found the back of the net.

Simon Chevrier, Vincent Lavoie and D'Artagnan Joly replied for Baie-Comeau (8-13-4).
