Kevin John Pinto does not look the part of a prolific holdup artist.
Bug-eyed behind rimless spectacles, head shaved, the 37-year-old investment firm vice-president appeared passive and tidy in bail court yesterday despite having spent three nights in jail. His full-time residential address is a condo on the waterfront.
It was Pinto’s second court appearance since he walked into 52 Division with a lawyer on Friday, surrendering to police. Pinto — formally “suspended” yesterday from his financial district job — has been charged with 10 counts of robbery.
“We’re as bamboozled as anyone else,’’ says Det.-Const. Al Phillips, one of the investigators involved with the case. “The last thing you expect in a bank robber is somebody from that community who works in banking.”
Pinto has no criminal record.
