We’re deep into the festival now. All semblance of normalcy went out the window sometime Saturday after the Megan Fox interviews. Sometimes life is surreal and having a day where you sit across from Fox one minute and Michael Caine the next is a strange day. It’s just gotten odder since then...
There’s been both good and bad since I checked in last. Here’s what grabbed my attention:
1. For three minutes today I turned into a stalker, following Elvis Costello through the lobby of the Hotel Intercontinental. I told him that his first album changed my life (it’s true) and he was gracious. It was my favourite moment of the fest.
2. Sat near Keanu Reeves at the screening for The Secret Lives of Pippa Lee. He stayed for the whole movie, ate popcorn and seemed to particularly like the scenes with Winona Ryder.
3. Someone stole a suitcase from the lobby of The Four Seasons, one of the hubs of the festival. In the case was 7000 Euros and a script. A photo of the thief is online, if you know him, call the film police!
4. Ricky Gervais told me he lies. A lot... hence the idea for his new film The Invention of Lying.
5. Neither of the young stars of Youth in Revolt, Portia Doubleday (great name, nice girl) and Michael Cera knew who Jack Benny was when I mentioned him in our interviews today. I am officially very old.
