This lakeshore community, once a waterfront shanty-town, is cleaning itself up without diluting its small-town charm.

Although easily accessible on the Queen streetcar, this west-end neighbourhood feels more like a quiet East Coast town than a suburban outpost.

As the area has developed over the past few years, the main strip’s dollar stores and nail salons now share their waterfront acreage with a fair-trade coffee shop, fresh juice bar, upscale bistro and community arts centre.
