Son shot at bus stop Friday
Clemee Joseph wants answers — before she buries her son.
“Instead of getting ready to attend my son’s graduation in another month ... I am putting my child in a casket on the eve of Mother’s Day,” she said amid a tearful plea for information about who shot 18-year-old Jarvis St. Remy on Friday.
Joseph, 38, spoke at a news conference steps from where her son was fatally wounded. She asked the public to rally around her as a mother and report any information they might have on the shooting.
And if it was a case of mistaken identity, the culprits should be “man enough” to come forward, she said.
On May 1, St. Remy left his best friend’s house on Dundas Street West near Scarlett Road, and walked to a nearby bus stop.
Two people police describe as “male” and “black” approached him on foot. One opened fire before running away, police said. Both wore dark hooded sweatshirts.
St. Remy’s grandmother, Delores Watson, said the family is worried that because he was a young, black man, he will be stereotyped as a gang member or someone involved in drugs.
Homicide Det. Mike Carbone said St. Remy had no criminal history.
