The Toronto Star reported that front-running mayoral candidate and TTC chair Adam Giambrone admitted Monday night to having an "inappropriate relationship" with a 20-year-old university student named Kristen Lucas. She says they had carried on an intimate relationship since late 2008, including, on several occasions, sex on his couch in his City Hall office. The 32-year-old politician denied he and Lucas had ever had sex, and said their relationship "consisted of text messages and conversations in public only."
In a statement on Monday night, Giambrone apologized to his family and long-time partner Sarah McQuarrie for his "serious lapse in judgment."
On Wednesday at 11 a.m., Giambrone will make an announcement at a news conference at City Hall.
