Fewer people on provincial roads were caught talking or texting while driving in June, Ontario Provincial Police said Thursday.
The most recent figures show 496 people were charged that month under Ontario’s distracted driving law on roads patrolled by the OPP, down from 778 charges in May.
A total of almost 3,800 charges have been laid since officers first widely enforced the law last February.
OPP Const. Dave Woodford said officers will wait to see if the June number is a fluke or a trend indicating drivers are getting the message.
It does not include charges laid by municipal police. the canadian press
