Those hoping to knock back a few cosmopolitans then shuffle over to see Sex And The City this weekend better have tickets already, as many showings of the much-hyped movie are sold out.

As of press time, tonight’s advance showing, as well as six showings tomorrow and three on Saturday are already sold out at the Scotiabank Theatre on Burrard. One theatre employee, who asked not to be named, said that 1,600 people will see it at the Scotiabank Theatre on Friday alone.

“Thursday and Friday are completely gone and Saturday’s getting there too,” she said.

A 7 p.m. Friday showing at Silvercity Metropolis is also sold out.

Of the 1,600 at the Scotiabank Theatre tomorrow, 25 will have come from Blushing Boutique, which held a movie launch party last night and gave away tickets to the first 20 people who came in and made a purchase. The winners will be shuttled by limo to the movie theatre.

Owner Shelley Klassen said she decided to throw the party because the movie is a perfect fit with the store.

“We’re such a girly-girl store and everyone here is such a big fan of the show,” said Klassen.
