The Mighty Thor Always Gets His Men

by: Steve Gow November 17, 2009 4:40 PM comments: (0)

Just when you thought you might get a break from hearing about another comic-book movie, voila! Here comes the mighty Thor.

Now it may not be news that this Marvel superhero is being turned into a big-screen epic. That’s old news, but the producers have just announced three more stars for what could be Summer 2011's big superhero flick which currently stars relative unknown Chris Hemsworth as the Norse God.

Ray Stevenson, no stranger to playing comic book characters – he was The Punisher in last year’s Punisher: War Zone after all – is joining Mongol’s Tadanobu Asano and Stuart Townsend (best known as Charlize Theron’s long-time lover – lucky duck) for the movie adaptation that also stars Natalie Portman and Anthony Hopkins.

While that seems like an esteemed cast, believe me, it will take a lot of bright players to pull this one off.  After all, in case you didn’t know, Thor looks a bit like Fabio wearing a ridiculous Viking helmet and hooker boots.  Then again, it worked for Spider-Man and look how he dressed  - so what do I know?

Either way, at least we’ll always have this Thor:

Wow, now that is an impressive costume. The attention to detail makes me wonder how many hours he spent on it.
