Going to the dogs
Try travelling by dog sled along Muskoka’s trails on a half day or full day trip. Take “mushing” lessons and have a chance to race the dogs in pairs while watching the forest scenery go by. You’ll travel two people per sled, pulled by a six-dog team. Trips run everyday and are $150 for a half-day trip and $250 for a full-day trip. Submit a trip registration form online at www.adventureseekertours.com.

Climb a frozen waterfall
Bundle up in that warm, winter coat and head north of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., to Batchawana Bay for some guided ice climbing exploration. Refresh your skills then ascend up new virgin icefalls that the North of Superior Climbing Company has been developing. Routes are chosen based on clients’ experience. To learn about costs, dates and locations of tours visit www.northofsuperiorclimbing.com.

Ghost walk
Test your courage with the final Ghost Walks of 2008 on Dec. 20. Sign up for a 90-minute evening guided tour of haunted sites in Hamilton, Ont., such as The Royal Connaught Hotel and The Right House. Or hear about Niagara-on-the-Lake’s headless officer in Old Fort Niagara. Admission for adults is $10 and $5 for kids 13 and under. Visit www.ghostwalks.com.
