Don Davies says he’s most qualified to represent Vancouver-Kingsway as its MP because he’s the only candidate for that riding who lives in the community.
The NDP nominee for the federal riding officially launched his campaign yesterday.
“I live here. My opponents don’t,” Davies said at his campaign headquarters. “This is my community, so it’s really rewarding to meet the diverse aspects that make up (the neighbourhood).”
Davies said he wants to be a voice for his community because many people “don’t get consulted and heard.”
He added that affordability of housing is a major worry for his constituency.
“People are telling me they’re worried about being able to send their kids to university,” said Davies. “It’s really tough for people in this riding to get by. The price of housing going up and the wages aren’t.”
He added that he’ll also lobby for better transit safety, a low cost drug plan, and a strategy to provide $40,000 a year in the job sector.
