It’s the kind of topless girls calendar you can send to your grandma and feel good about buying.
The Put Your Best Breast Forward calendars go on sale tomorrow to raise money for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.
It features nine Vancouver friends cavorting topless in everyday situations — like cocktail parties or suburban backyards — tastefully covered up by balloons or undies on a clothing line.
Natasha John, 24, the brainchild behind the inaugural calendar, said the idea was to promote awareness to the younger generation.
“At first (some of) the girls were very hesitant and self-conscious,” said Jennifer Williams, 30, one of nine women featured in the calendar. “But … at the end they were really comfortable (with being topless).”
That’s the idea, added John — to leave your inhibitions behind and get tested.
One participant said being in the calendar inspired her to get a mammogram.
“She said (posing in the calendar) was a great way to celebrate her body being cancer free,” said John.
