City council candidate Michael Geller is turning over a new leaf — or, more accurately, hundreds of old ones.
In a novel promotion, Geller’s campaign manager has scribbled “Vote Geller, Nov. 15” on hundreds of leaves and scattered them in places where voters might find them.
“I’m sure I’m the only politician in Canada using real maple leaves to promote his candidacy,” said Geller, an NPA candidate in the Nov. 15 civic election.
Geller, an architect and planner who was behind the UniverCity development at Simon Fraser University, is also hiring homeless people from the Downtown Eastside to help erect election signs.
