Man’s skull fractured after random attack

A Vancouver man was taken to hospital with fractures to his skull after being the victim of what appears to have been a random attack near Second Beach pool, police said yesterday.

The 31-year-old victim, who said he walks the seawall every night with a cup of tea to unwind, was attacked between 8:30 and 8:45 on Sunday evening, said Const. Lindsey Houghton.

“He was approached by one man and two women,” Houghton said.

“The man asked why (the victim) pushed them. The walker, who was quite confused, said he didn’t push anyone, at which point the three people began to viciously assault him.”

Police were called by a passerby who saw the victim laying on the ground. No suspects were found.

“There’s no indication at this time that there was any hate motivation or bias related to this,” Houghton said.
