A computer glitch has delayed until Nov. 14 the sale of the final batch of Olympic tickets.

Thousands of buyers were left stuck in a virtual waiting room Saturday when they logged on to buy some of the remaining 100,000 Games tickets.

“We made the decision to postpone the sale of Phase 3 tickets for one week as our priority has always been to ensure fair access (to tickets) to Canadian residents,” said Caley Denton, VANOC vice-president of ticketing.

The website, tickets.com, has a virtual waiting room, where buyers are held back until they are allowed to enter the transaction site. The two failed to link and VANOC was unable to quickly fix the problem.

A few tickets were sold over the phone. To maintain fairness, an equal number of tickets will be taken from another pool and added when sales resume.
