Those having a tough time letting go of the Olympic experience have one last chance to skate on the same ice where Canadian speedskaters won gold — the Richmond Oval is holding three days of public skating before the ice is removed.

The Oval is holding public skating sessions April 3 to 5, between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m.

“It’s really just a big community skate to sort of relive a little bit of the Games and everybody can take home a little picture-souvenir from it,” said Aran Kay, public relations co-ordinator at the Oval.

DJs will provide the skaters with a beat, and a food concession will also be available.

Admission is $2, free for children under five.

The actual building re-opens on April 1 for fitness classes and for the next few months, the Oval will be redeveloped into a multi-sports complex that will include an expanded fitness centre, two ice rinks, basketball courts and a track-and-field zone.

The project, an Olympic legacy, will be completed sometime in the fall.
