Saab heads to Austria's Red Bull, joins Hannay, Grenier

Another player with Halifax ties is headed to Salzburg Red Bull in Austria.

The club, already having inked Halifax Mooseheads alumni Sawyer Hannay and Alexandre Grenier earlier this summer, announced Tuesday the signing of rugged Saint John Sea Dogs rear-guard Ian Saab, a Halifax native.

Saab, entering his over-age year in the QMJHL, had two goals and seven assists in 52 games last season while accumulating 164 penalty minutes, fourth in the QMJHL.

Saab, like Hannay, is expected to play for Red Bull's junior team but could see time at Austria's top professional level.
