Frk can walk, just 'a little bit sore'

Fear not, Halifax Mooseheads fans: Martin Frk can walk.

The soon-to-be 19-year-old winger tweeted on Sunday that he "can't walk" after minor knee surgery in Detroit. But after Frk reported to camp on Monday at Cole Harbour Place, Mooseheads general manager Cam Russell said that's nothing to overreact over.

"He's here, he's walking around, he's fine," Russell said. "He just had a scope done, so he's a little bit sore, plus on the flight (from Detroit), there's swelling that makes it a little tender. But he's fine. He'll be riding the bike in the next day or so and he'll be back on the ice, probably, in two weeks."

According to Mooseheads staff, Frk's surgery removed an accessory band of soft tissue in his knee.

Frk, selected 49th overall in June's NHL draft by the Detroit Red Wings, had 16 goals and 13 assists for 29 points in 34 games in an injury-shortened campaign last season.
