At Grounded Kitchen, the food is displayed like a buffet in front of the open kitchen. Take a peek, order and then sit down to wait for your food to be delivered.

A waiter dressed in a mechanic-style jumpsuit delivers the food to your table. Chain link and rope dangle from the ceiling as decoration.

My friend chose a plate filled with five different salads, and not just of the mayo-based variety. Along with the lunch special, also on the menu are a variety of panini including pesto chicken, club or Mediterranean chicken.

Having just had panini the week before, I chose the pasta lunch special of rigatoni with Aribiatta sauce, mushrooms, Italian sausage and a meatball. The meatball was fist-sized. The combined aroma of garlic, tomato and Parmesan made my mouth water. Although the meal was tasty, it needed to be hotter — not spicier, but hotter. The bread on the side was chewy, like a good sourdough should be.

Grounded Kitchen is a busy place, grounded in good bites.
